This 4-part series features just some of the sweets that I had growing up. I found myself being influenced by my Chinese-Canadian cultural upbringing within my art. These snacks remind me of the happiness and good times that were part of my childhood.
By choosing these particular stencils used in the silkscreen process, it creates a vintage-look that may reference mass production packaging (similar to Andy Warhol). I chose a composition that is like a pattern to build on a playful aesthetic. These sweet snacks are quite recognizable and I want people to gain a sense of nostalgia from it.
