The number 173 is the house number of my home that was destroyed in the Wood Buffalo wildfire that occurred in early May of 2016. I felt that I still needed a sense of closure from the fire, even though it had been almost 2 years since the natural disaster.
By layering blind contours of the interior and exterior of my home with aqua-tinted areas and a digital element, it creates a metaphor commenting on memories. The inaccuracy of the delicate elements over the actual photographs strengthens the idea of what was there and what wasn't. The decision to highlight certain areas by placing the digital image within the composition was based on my favoritism of the place.
